Freeport Bridge
I learned about the Freeport Bridge and the history of it, during this project. I now know that the Freeport Bridge was used to connect and have free access between the town of Freeport and Yolo County. Freeport was initially started as a port that cargo ships coming on the Sacramento River could port and unload for free. It was built in 1929 and is still in daily use. I also learned that Yolo County still remains mostly farmland and is still used as an agricultural resource.
I learned about all the technology I used to find information, make the video, and edit the video. Some new technology I used was Adobe Premiere Elements. In this program I learned how to import and export data. In addition to that, I learned how to put together some video and audio to make a nice project. I also used a microphone that allowed me to move freely away from the camera. This was quite convenient in that I was able to do what I needed and didn’t have to hold a microphone the whole time.
My efforts on this project benefit the community, because it allows the community to know the history of the Freeport Bridge, and why it’s important to our community. Many people don’t know what the bridge was used for or let alone that it’s even there and still in use. It’s somewhat hidden behind trees and other buildings. I wasn’t even aware that it was still in use until I started this project.
This project could be improved by having more than one or two people working on it. It could also be improved if I had more information about the bridge or the Adobe Premiere Elements. I did learn a lot about how to use Premiere Elements but I wasn’t quite comfortable with it yet. This was one of my first projects using it. A lot of help came from my teacher, but perhaps more students working in the project with me, and some outside input could have made this project excel.
